Before dawn
We collect you from your camp or from Wadi Rum village in the dark. Coffee while the crew lays out the envelope and the burners light the inside of the balloon like a lantern.
Wadi Rum · Jordan
Lift off as the sun clears the escarpment and drift silently above red sand, sandstone towers and open desert. One hour, no engine noise, nothing between you and the oldest landscape in Jordan.
Now taking requests for our first season
We collect you from your camp or from Wadi Rum village in the dark. Coffee while the crew lays out the envelope and the burners light the inside of the balloon like a lantern.
You climb with the first light. The desert floor turns from grey to deep red beneath you. Depending on wind we drift over canyons, rock bridges and the open sand corridors.
A gentle landing, then tea with the crew while the balloon is packed. You are back at your camp comfortably before the heat arrives.

Price per person
165 JOD
Approximately 233 USD. Includes camp pickup and return, the flight, and refreshments after landing.
Tell us your dates and we will come back to you to confirm availability and weather outlook. This is a request, not a confirmed booking — we will always write back before anything is fixed.
Ballooning depends entirely on wind and visibility. If the pilot judges conditions unsafe we do not fly. We will offer you the next available morning, or a full refund if you are leaving Jordan.
Sunrise is the only window when desert air is stable enough to fly safely. By mid morning the ground heats and the air becomes turbulent. Every balloon operation in Wadi Rum flies at dawn for the same reason.
Most people are surprised by how still it feels. The basket moves with the wind rather than against it, so there is no rushing air and very little sensation of speed. There is no engine noise except the burner.
Children can fly, but there is a minimum age and children must be able to stand for the whole flight and see over the side of the basket. Please tell us your children’s ages when you send your request and we will confirm before anything is booked.
We fly from within the Wadi Rum protected area. If you are staying in Aqaba or Petra, tell us in your request and we will advise on timing — it is an early start but it is regularly done.
